A trip to the Lake District to capture some glorious autumn colours in the early autumn sunshine was the idea. In reality, it was very grey and sometimes wet!

Here are two views from the car park at Southampton Airport. Apparently, unseen by me, there is a sign on the car park saying “Viewing not allowed - please leave”!!

Because I flew up to Manchester and then rented a car, I got a head start on the weekend’s photos. I’d always like Blae Tarn between Great Langdale and Little Langdale and I headed there (below):

We had hoped to get some decent sunrise images. Alas, it was very grey on the Saturday morning and strated to rain as dawn broke; no photos taken then! On the Sunday, the forecast was for heavy rain before dawn and strong winds and most of the party decided not to bother venturing out. Howver, the day dawned grey again and dry - well at least for a while. This is one of the launches on Derwentwater at Keswick: (below)

The weather forecast for the Saturday was not particularly good so we worked on the basis that the west side of the Lakes, on the sea side of the higher mountains would be drier. This was indeed the case. This is behind Wasdale Inn in Wasdale with Great Gable with her head in the clouds: (below)

After a day and half of heavy rain, I was surprised to see the sun break through, albeit for a few brief hours this afternoon. I’d taken three members of my “Fan Club”to Bournemouth Airport for their flight to Spain for a long girlie weekend in Spain and I had initially thought about taken my full camera kit and heading down to Corfe Castle and Swanage for the rest of the afternoon and evening but even when we’d left home it was still raining, so I decided not to bother with it. Besides, with cases full of hair straighteners and dryers and enough clothes for a month, I thought that there would be little room for my camera stuff so I made do with my little Panasonic. I headed down to Christchurch Quay and had a few hours through listening to the brass band concert at bandstand and enjoying the sun.

Christchurch Priory

Today, there was a wedding omn the Priory; a wonderful venue for such an event. I’m planning to photograph the inside of the Priory at some point; I have agreement in principle and I just need to firm up on the details.

Seen on a recent walk in the Hawkley, Hamsphire, area. Visitors to the countryside (”townies”) are often accused if leaving a mess in the countryside, often with good reason. However, those who make a living for the countryside, farmers, for example, are often responsible, as this scerne shows! This is one of two tractors just left to rot.
