Another from my Yorkshire trip over the New Year break. This was on a walk from Austwick and I’m heading to the village of Clapham. This is New Year’s Eve and I’d had a bit of a lazy start to the morning. Even so, at 11am, the temperature was -6 deg C and but the time I’d finished the walk at 4pm, the temperature had fallen to -8 deg C. The fog stayed all day and coated all the trees and bushes with white crystals.

I like to get away after Christmas for a week of “me” time and celebrate the new year hopefully quietly. For this New Year, I had a week in Stainforth, around 3 miles to the north of Settle, North Yorkshire. The week was wonderful; dry and very cold. It made for good walking as the footpaths were all rock hard.
