Although I have cycled near Minsted many times, I’ve never been aware of the lovely church. It was through sheer fluke that I’d took a wrong direction when driving through the New Forest (yes, lived close to the edge of it for for the past 50+ years!) and found it to be a most attractive building, unusual in that it’s built from brick.

After a hot day stuck into the Mad House, I really wanted to get out for some exercise to take advantage of the fine weather. So – a bike ride in the New Forest was called for!

The New Forest National Park is the newest National Park and I believe it is still the largest area of natural woodland in England. It was originally established as a hunting area for William the Conqueror in Although on first glance there would seem to be plenty of option for bikes on the gravel tracks, there is surprisingly little option for putting together longer circular routes. One route runs south of the main A35 and starts form just to the east of Lyndhurst which makes it very accessible to my home.
Details of the ride can be found on my bikes and boots web site. It includes the track as recorded by my GPS and is overlad on the OS mappingh using their Applicatiion Program Interface.
