Black & White – 1

It’s not often I will post in black & white but I thought I’d make the exception for the weekend.

This is a piece of artwork from somewhere in New York. I can’t think where in New York to try to find more information about it but I can recall that it was cold and damp that day; funny what will stick in your mind! From December 2008, I think. I can’t find any of the original images taken from that trip which is bit of shame.

Chain of events

This is the important bits of Duncan’s bike; the chain really does not want to look like this; it works much better if it is a continuous loop! It snapped with around just under a mile to go on the first day of the weekend. Duncan is blaming the fact that he oiled it (normally it’s quite rusty!) for its failure. My thought is that as Duncan will go up and down each hill twice before I’ve done it once, then the chain is over-stressed! Duncan is the only one of us who does not use either cleats or toe clips and will ride either in a pair of Dunlop Green Flash plimsolls that he’s had for around 20 years at least (and wears them for gardening) or, if its been particularly wet, he will wear wellies!! It looks like he’s been in the bushes to pick up the ferns. We fixed his chain next morning after breakfast andl it stayed fixed much to our amazement.
